I'll be deleting/abandoning this journal soon. I'd say 5 years was a pretty good run, yes? New blog over at http://gabcanfly.wordpress.com just in case you're interested.

Re-posting from Noelle's Facebook feed:

Sign the petition protesting the unethical casting of "The Last Airbender". Learn more about the film's discriminatory practices at www.racebending.com

This movie is going to reek of Mickey Rooney's Mr. Yunioshi from, "Breakfast at Tiffanys".

Shame, shame, shame, Paramount. Shame, shame, shame M.Night Shyamalan.

Btw, is there a separate petition to cast Dante Basco as Zuko? XD (Rufio! Rufio! Rufio!)

Ria and I took the day off from work to go to Recto and Divisoria to get her wedding shit done and we bought puppies!

Actually, I bought one for Derrick because we can't have furry pets in the house.

Last time we were there, they were selling these half-and-half puppies for 1,500 php. They were just 800 php today.

That's Derrick's Kratos. He's half-German Shepherd, and Ria's Marley, who's half-Labrador. Can't remember what the other halves are. Lol.

Kratos has really sad eyes. He sleeps most of the time and when he does, he has nightmares and cries in his sleep. I don't want to think about the abuse this little guy was subjected to by the breeders. :(

Derrick just left with Kratos. I want puppy too. :(

Where'd the weekend go?

Busy weekend is busy,

Friday:

Derrick's mom's birthday dinner at Alimall. Maki + tons of wasabi is lurve.

UP QUILL's folio release at I Love You Store, Cubao X. Quillie reunion is lurve.

Overnight at Myka's. Late night road trip adventure a little unnerving.

Saturday:

"Watchmen" last full show at Megamall with YD. I have friends who hated it, but I loved it. What they did to Rorschach's mask was so cool. I was afraid they were going to turn it into some big action movie, but thankfully, no. The soundtrack was awesome too.

Billy Crudup is lurve. Billy Crudup nekkid as Dr. Manhattan is

Sunday:

Band practice after one year of hibernation is sabaw haha.

Oh, and pasalubong from Ricki from the, "Watchmen" premier he attended last Thursday.

Tomorrow:

Back to work. -____-

I'm on Volume 6 of Transmetropolitan. Ang gandaaaaaa. I need to find the time to read it all in one sitting!

I commented on one of Ate Cielo's posts, not knowing there was a meme attached to it. Since I'm taking a break from breaking my brain, I thought I'd answer it anyway.

How it works: I commented on this post and was given five subjects/things I was associated with. Then, post in  journal and elaborate on the subjects given.

She gave me:
  1. Advertising
  2. Make up
  3. Watercolors
  4. Turtles
  5. Rock Band

Plastered...

Pallon came over at the apartment today to make a plaster mould of my face for one of her exhibit pieces. All along I thought she was going to use plaster bandages, so you can imagine my shock when she pulled out a bag of plaster of paris.

Hullo, claustrophobia.

I got through it though. With drinking straws we got from the sari-sari store. haha. I conquered fear!

I am missing about a dozen or so eyelashes. They stuck to the plaster.

Can't wait to see the finished result. :)

Also, Kuya Mike lent me

Awesome so far. I'm halfway done. :)

This is my brain:

This is my brain on PHP:

AND this is my brain on weekends:

On a more serious note: The Bossing wants me to use Joomla! for the new company site. Before reading the manuals, I had absolutely no idea what CMS, MYSQL, XMAPP and PHP meant.

After reading the manuals, I still have absolutely no idea what they mean. But I have been able to make a semi-decent mock-up site. Yay!  My only problem is linking to individual articles. (It's a pain in the ass. Nothing ends with .html! Nothing!! \( T^T)/)

I also haven't looked at the stylesheets yet. Thankfully, there are templates so all I need to do is edit background images and shit. Harhar.

I also have a bad head cold. Head cold + codes = brain broke.

I hate being a no0b.

I'm finally done renewing my passport. It will be delivered March 2nd. I would've done it online but I needed it ASAP but it turned out the DFA isn't offering the 2-3 business days rush processing anymore. Something about the new passports being machine-readable.

In spite of that, I are so happeh!! \(^ 3^)/

Derrick got me a couple of issues of  "The Nocturnals" which is so awesome.

Bought a new pair of BRAND NEW shoes for 300php! Hooray for Korean surplus! The shoes are doubly awesome because they look like the Blowfish Hobbit shoes from Delia's that I wanted so badly that were $50 and only available online so Mama couldn't find them when she went to Florida.

1. Here be my booty! Aaaar!. 2 Blowfish Hobbit Work Shoes

Close enough. The purple skull and crossbones print make up for the fact that its about half a size too big. Small feet can be such a burden sometimes. (although I save about 500php at Converse because I shop in the Kids' section)

I need to sleep so this giddyness can wear off so I can write a decent blog entry.

Busy, busy week

Started work this week. So yay for employment. Still a little overwhelmed. This is the most responsibility I've had, it's the most I need to learn in a short period of time, and I feel like things are moving at a frantic pace, but I can do this. Yes, I can. Because I want to.

Met up with the Hearties for dinner at Kozui friday night. Then it was okonomiyaki dinner in Little Tokyo with teh boyprenTM  and YD peeps Saturday night. It's been a very yummy Japanese weekend. I'm not the type to celebrate Valentines, but it's a great excuse to go out and celebrate with friends. :p

Now, all I need is a crash refresher course in Physics and Chemistry and I'm good to go.

I've got a couple of "second" interviews lined up these next two weeks. With Iranian, Brit and Singaporean bosses. Nice. No pressure, right? I wanna throw up just thinking about it.

I finally found Petshop of Horrors manga for download but our DSL has been so wonky lately. It took 9 minutes to download the first volume, 15 for the second, and 1 hour and counting for third. -____-  This is taking so long, it's  ridiculous.

I haven't had my period in 3 months. My OB says I might not get my period ever while I'm on this new pill. Haven't quite decided if  that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I was supposed to go to Enterprise yesterday to finish my clearance so they can start processing my backpay and shit but I was feeling so lazy, I couldn't get out of bed. So I have a a ton of errands to do today. -____- You'd think doing nothing wouldn't be this tiring.

Finished a couple of drawings today. *confetti*

Of course, I still don't have a working scanner so I used my cam phone then touched up the lighting and contrast and shit in Photoshop. Painting's still a challenge. I've gone so long without touching my watercolours, so I'm slowly relearning. :p

Also updated my site with pictures from Pallon's shoots where I helped with make-up and shit. Yayness.

Speaking of which, we finally finished the Wallflower shoot last January 22.

On photos: Caren Mangaran. Photography by Katrina Pallon.

The number of wardrobe, make-up and hair changes made this a grueling series to finish, but it was fun and I'm looking forward to more shoots. You can view the whole series at Pallon's Multiply page.

So I had this long, mushy entry planned out after my last day of work, but I can't remember what I was supposed to write about.

Anyway, I'm done serving my 30 days' notice. I've done my exit interview. All that's left for me to do is my clearance, which I will take care of next week. I'm still catching up on several month's worth of lost sleep. :p

Aylabjoo, Independence and Ground Zero! ♥  You guys made work awesome :)

I was taken in the by what it said on the box, but instead of becoming a sort of reddish-burgundy, my hair is now brown.

Not reddish-brown.

Not black-blown.

Not golden-brown.

Just brown.

I still have some pink dye left over. I need some bleach stat to fix this.

Ugh. I knew I should've just stuck to the Chinese hair dye. It's cheaper and the colour's better.

Bollywood!

My parents celebrated their 25th Wedding anniversary last January first. Because they were feeling too lazy to go out on New Years' Day, we went out for dinner earlier at one our favourite restaurants, Bollywood. :)

i need to dye my hair again...

eww, romance. XD

SUP DAWG. I CAN HAS HOMIES.

Bollywood has kinda deteriorated since we last ate there (prices went up quite a bit, too), but the food's still awesome. Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Momo, Mutton Curry and Rogan Josh with lots of Naan. Mmmm-mmm. Just like we used to have in Nepal. Mmmm-mmm.

Highlights of 2008 )

Plus, things I'd like to do this year. Shall not call them resolutions, because then it just sucks when you can't stick to them.

  1. Be more prolific/productive. I'm so stagnant, I'm breeding mosquitoes.
  2. Find a job that will actually bring me joy. Not happiness. Joy. (that hopefully pays well too. although I doubt you can have them both. hullo, cirque du soleil, I'm free whenever you are)
  3. Start saving.  (I say this all year round, but I never do. )
  4. Climb mountains again. (ford more streams. follow rainbows til i find my dreeeeaaaaam)
  5. Spend more time with people I've neglected during my year as a nocturnal answering machine.
  6. Attend gigs again.
  7. Learn to be more selfish at the right times, and to be more selfless at the right times.

Productivity!

I played make-up artist, stylist and all-around-alalay for Pallon's Elizabethan-themed shoot with Russell last December 23. Despite the lack of sleep, it felt really, really good to be working on something that isn't remotely related to the office and it was worth staying awake for more than 24 hours. :P

This was the first time I've been inside the San Augustin Church. That's probably the one thing I envy about the Catholics. Their churches have such lush interiors and great baroque/gothic architecture --although I can't say I'm a fan of the bleeding Christs on crucifixes.

In any case, the photos are gorgeous so like a proud momma I'm showing off the shots I helped out on.

I've always loved how Disney animated this Prokokiev piece. We used to have it on VHS once upon a time, i have no idea where it is now.

Thank God for the intarwebs.

Here's part one and two:

The wolf seemed a lot scarier when you're just listening to it on the radio with out the visuals though. :p

Today is Day 4 of of my 30 day's notice.

I was on a jeep home this morning when I realised I want a Sari. This one, in particular.

Not that I'd have anywhere to where it to. Or know how to put one on.

Although, this tutorial explains it quite nicely  -- even though it's made of crack. Roflmao. XD

That's all. This random post was brought to you today by my insomnia. I got home around 8am, fell asleep around 9am, and woke up at 12 noon and haven't fallen asleep yet since then.

Wish me luck, I have work later. (26 days to go!)
